first look at websites

http://www.neilgaiman.com/

While Neil Gaiman is not a visual artist, he is one of the best (and most bizarre) graphic novel and sci-fi writers in the world. His books are notorious for other worldly imagery and thought processes (death, distruction, virtual dream states, etc). I like how his website looks the way his stories are written. It is also very easy to navigate. While he is an adult author, he also writes children's books and has included a website specifically designed for kids in the section called mousecircus.

Juliana Neufeld is a relatively new illustrator. She does interesting work incorporating mixed media, photography and watercolor illustrations. Her website is very indicitive of her work and gives you a feel for her style as soon as you open the page. While it's a little slow, it is very easy to navagate and you are able to access a lot of information from on site journal to client list to portfolio.
